Population: 109,955,400 (July 2008 est.) the growth rate is 1.142% . The Climate in Mexico ranges from tropical to desert. mexcio is located in the middle of Amercia, it borders the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexcio and also the North pacific Ocean. Its geographic coordinates are 23 00 N, 10 200 W. Mexicos map refrence is North Amercia.

2. What is the overall environmental health status of your country? Identify a major landmark/area within your country that is experiencing environmental issues.
The current environmental issues that is affecting Mexico is, the shortage of hazardous waste disposal facilities, polluted in north, rural to urban migration, lack of natural fresh water resources, raw sewage and industrial effluents polluting rivers in urban areas, deforestation; widespread erosion, desertification, deteriorating agricultural lands, serious air and water pollution in the national capital and urban centre and land subsidence in Valley of Mexico caused by groundwater depletion


3. Discuss the human impacts that may lead to the environmental damage highlighted above.
The human impacts that are affecting Mexico would be the amount of pollution in the water ways. The migration from rural to urban putting more demand for housing also the deforestation of the forests will be affecting the environment increasing erosion. Pollution from factories are causing the air pollution.

4) What strategies are the government bodies or other groups within your country implementing to combat the environmental issues?
The following groups are working to combat environment changes The Movimiento Ecologico Mexicano, The Grupo de Dien and also the Federal government has recognised that there is a need for economic development to be environmentally sustainable.

6) Looking at the effects of climate change on a global scale, will your country be affected by a rise in sea levels? Discuss how the Antarctic melting may lead to dire effects on the land and broader population.
Mexico ranges from been 70m above sea level to 4000m above sea level. The coast surrounding Mexico isn’t very deep, ranging from 0- 200m, with the Antarctic melting it wont corse a problem with them not only because they are in the Northern hemisphere, they are also mainly high above sea level. The Antarctic melting will have basically no effect on Mexico.

7) What is your country doing in regards to sustainable energy sources?
Mexico is a country which is highly dependent on fossil fuels. Mexico’s energy sources are 90% non- renewable. Mexico is an oil producer and exporter so the Country tends to depend highly on fossil fuels. Mexico has the potential to be supplied fully by renewable energy.
