Question One:
USA has a population of more than 300 million people and covers an area of about 9,38 million kilometers. The US is the third largest country in the world by area and population. Also they are the most Ethnically Diverse country in the world and the biggest economy in the World. USA is located in almost entirely the western hemisphere. It stretches from the Pacific Ocean reaching over to the Atlantic Ocean.

Question Two:
America is one of the most environmentally damaged coutries in the world. America is currently facing many, many different problems with the environmental status of the country. One of the most environmentally damaging or damaged places in America is New York City. This is mainly because of the massive population but also the fossil fuels they burn and the major industries.
Some of the current issues are:

  • Air Pollution
  • Carbon Emissions
  • Water Pollution

Air Pollution:
America has an enourmous effect on air pollution in the world. Particully in the US, Air pollution is so bad that the rain they get is to a small amount acitic.
Carbon Emissions:
USA is the single largest carbon emitting country in the World from the burning of fossil fuels.
Water Pollution:
This is when the water they get runs off and washes away the various chemicals they use of their crops etc.

Question Three:
The Human impacts on the environment in America is something that is going to take a lot of work to fix. There is such a vast population in America and so many different people and factories use so many different chemicals and have different means of producing the product in America. America is not totally aware of the way they dispose of many chemicals and do not identify the issue and how to prevent it as well as some other countires. They burn a massive amount of Fossil fuels leading to major air pollution and Carbon emissions. They also have more problems with things like rubbish pollution and chemical pollution in there water. People of America do not always realise that the chemicals they use even on the ground are washed into their water ways and polluting the water quality in America. It is such a big country which means it is a very big problem that needs to be fixed and it will require an effort from all American population.

Question Four:
The US government do realise that they have got problems with the environment and they know they need to do something about it. But sadly the American Government and the entire country have many more economic problems and they see those as more important. The country of America do have strategies in place to help with environmental problems and a big thing that shows them having it right in America for environmental delivery is the way they transport water from Northern America where the rain fall is large to the area in southern America where they get less rain than us. I know that this would have more than its fair share of little problems and things that are not right in it for the Environment. But it shows that when it comes to environment and one day it will majorly hit America they are going to have to do something about it. Also sadly America at the moment think because they are America they are not the problem with Global Warming and they are not entirely to blame. Many other countries emmit huge amounts of Carbon Dioxide. Maybe the Global Warming issue will begin to be taken more seriously in America with the new President. They do make sacrifices and they do try but as far as things the government of America are doing they have the power to do more. The American image is very important to Americans and they will not let it get too out of hand before they act on the issue.

Question 5:
Unfortunately the strategies listed above are not going to make a significant difference. America is too proud to admit they are a major emitter of Carbon Dioxide [CO2]. You can’t fix a problem if you don’t admit you have one. America is on a path of ‘destruction’ and if they don’t join together as a nation and help fight Global warming, level of CO2 emissions, pollution, deforestation ECT… the path [in the future] will end very quickly and when this happens it want just affect America, but will also affect the world. As stated in previous question America has a great strategy for their water delivery from North America to southern America. This does show that the American Government is trying to solve the environmental problems that affect them as a nation. The American Government could and should be doing more to help their country, and in the long run the environment world wide. They need to make plans, but they need to not just discuss them, they need to act on the plan. Furthermore they need to come up with plan as a nation, because this affects the whole nation not just men and women in suits, hold poles find out what the ‘people’ want. Have more education on the subject, Hold free seminars, and constantly remind the people of the plans and how to act them through, through the media e.g. TV, magazines, radio, ECT. As new leadership has arrived, new opportunities, direction became available. Hopefully the government will be able to achieve better results for our environment before it's too late.

Question 6:

Question 7:

Question 8:
The Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement linked to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The major feature of the Kyoto Protocol is for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. [1]On 12 November 1998, Vice President Al Gore symbolically signed the protocol. Both Gore and Senator Joseph Lieberman indicated that the protocol would not be acted upon in the Senate until there was participation by the developing nations. The Clinton Administration never submitted the protocol to the Senate for ratification. Gorge W Bush opposes the treaty because of the strain he believes the treaty would put on the economy. [1]Bush said of the treaty:
“This is a challenge that requires a 100% effort; ours, and the rest of the worlds. The world's second-largest emitter of greenhouse gases is the People's Republic of China. Yet, China was entirely exempted from the requirements of the Kyoto Protocol. India and Germany are among the top emitters. Yet, India was also exempt from Kyoto ... America's unwillingness to embrace a flawed treaty should not be read by our friends and allies as any abdication of responsibility. To the contrary, my administration is committed to a leadership role on the issue of climate change ... Our approach must be consistent with the long-term goal of stabilizing greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere”

Therefore America has signed but not ratified their signature. However America believe they are doing their bit for the environment.
